A team of 3 SWV Volunteers (Sherri Elliott, Linda Hawley, Jeff Hawley) cleared 7 trees on the Waterhouse Trail from the trailhead all the way to the wilderness boundary. The trees cleared is as follows; 3 14" trees cut and rolled 2 10" trees cut and rolled 1 4" tree cut and moved off trail 1 3" tree moved off trail There are no trees down now from trailhead to the wilderness boundary. RECENT PROJECT – CRABTREE TO BEAR LAKE SWV has completed a 2-day logout inside wilderness on the Crabtree trail leading up to Bear Lake. 16 trees were removed using crosscut saw over the two day period resulting in 64 volunteer hours completed. The project was led by Craig Fish and included Dusty Ventura, Tyson, Dick Chimenti, Sherri Elliott and Jeff Hawley. We remember John as an early member of SWV and a great outdoorsman. He taught many of us Winter survival skills, one of his specialties. The following is his obituary: "John Joseph Kretschmann, 85, of Belmont and Sonora, California, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025. Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, John lived a life brimming with adventure, love, and a passion for the outdoors.
