John Kretschmann in memoriam

We remember John as an early member of SWV and a great outdoorsman. He taught many of us Winter survival skills, one of his specialties. The following is his obituary: "John Joseph Kretschmann, 85, of Belmont and Sonora, California, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025. Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, John lived a life brimming with adventure, love, and a passion for the outdoors. SWV LNT at Summit RS 7-4-25

A Leave No Trace event is possible on Friday, July 4th 2025, Independence Day weekend, A project lead is needed for this event. Of course, we also need other volunteers to participate. If you can work this event, please let Chris Larimer know (contact information below). We are open to half-day shifts it that works better for you… The SWV LNT Public Education events usually take place at Summit Ranger Station on Hwy 108 near Pinecrest Lake. Greetings SWV MembersA trail clearing project just came up…hence the short notice. WHEN: Thursday, May 29 9am WHERE: Meet at Summit Ranger Station WHAT: Clearing down trees on th Crabtree trail ideally for the first mile. This is chainsaw work as it is outside wilderness.
