SWV Multi-Day Project

Hello!Hopefully everyone’s summer is going well and has provided the opportunity to enjoy the opportunity to get out and explore, recharge and have some fun.

Speaking of fun and getting out…SWV is planning a 3-day multi-day work project starting this coming Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 19-21. The work will be on the Sword Lake trail out of the Fence Creek/County Line trailhead. This is primarily a logging out project as it has been reported there are 65+ trees down from the trailhead to the lake. We believe the majority of them are in the first mile and a half of the trail.

The logistics are that the project team will establish a base camp near the trailhead and hike in each day to work on tree removal. We think most of the work will be inside wilderness and consequently involve crosscut saws.

Any volunteers are welcome to join. If crosscut sawing is not your thing, there is also a need for brushing as parts of the trail are so overgrown that parties have had difficulty following the trail. We will provide all the tools necessary. Craig Fish is project lead and has kindly offered to be head chef for breakfast and dinners. If you plan on signing up, please do three things:
1. Go to www.swv1.org – click on the Events icon, then open the project

2. Enter your name on the spreadsheet that you will be attending
3. Send a text message to Craig – as he will need to update the headcount for breakfast and dinner. Craig: 925 321-1481. Include if it’s 1, 2 or all 3 days.

Note: you’re welcome to sign up for 1, 2 or all 3 days…just let Craig know for planning purposes!

Thanks for all you do for wilderness!
