Stanislaus Wilderness Volunteers (SWV) in concert with the US Forest Service works to accomplish projects within the forest such as campsite restoration, trail maintenance, trash removal, signage projects and noxious weed removal. Another important component of SWV’s mission is to provide education on Leave No Trace (LNT) priniciples to assist visitors in minimizing their impact on pristine wilderness adopt best practices to preserve this valuable resource.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how volunteers and Forest Service staff work — whether providing Leave No Trace (LNT) information at the Summit Ranger Station or working in the field. The Forest Order restricting access to the Stanislaus Forest has been lifted and the forest is now open for the 2021 season. SWV has scheduled a number of project workdays. See the Events page for a listing of project workdays. SWV will be adhering to the CDC guidelines and Forest Service protocols on all of our projects.
SWV Leadership has implemented protocols and processes to enable our volunteers to work effectively and safely. There are requirements for face masks and maintaining social distancing according to vaccination status or working conditions.
To the SWV Volunteers, thank you for all you do. For non-members of SWV, please contact SWV if you are interested in applying for membership, donating time or funds by contacting me at this address.
Thank you.
