GreetingsIt’s been an interesting winter – actually a historic winter given the amount of snow we had this year. This has impacted access to the front country and most especially the back country for hikers, back packers and folks who want to enjoy wilderness. That said, SWV is planning projects this season as part of the Season Opener we conduct every year. Access to various trailheads will likely be delayed due to snow. Roads will be impacted and very likely, many trails will have down trees. So our focus initially will be trail clearing and reporting conditions back to the Forest Service.
The SWV Season Opener is open to all members. If you are not a member but are interested in becoming a member, you’re welcome to the event.
The season opener is scheduled for 10:00 am on Saturday, June 24. The location will be at 29475 Yuba Court, Cold Springs, CA. Cold Springs is approximately 3.5 miles west from the Pinecrest Lake Road turnoff/Summit Ranger Station.
This should be a productive season to contribute to the preservation of wilderness and improving the conditions from a much needed winter snowfall and precipitation.
