Hi Team, Pack your bags and sharpen your crosscut skills! We are heading out to clear the beautiful Clark Fork Trail, and we need your muscle and passion to help restore this pathway. Deadfall and downed trees have blocked sections of the trail. We will be operating traditional crosscut saws to clear the path and keep the wilderness accessible for everyone. The first of the season’s Leave No Trace event is approaching quickly. We will be at the Sugar Pine (formerly Summit) USFS station Saturday, August 22, 9-3. Goal is to assist the USFS in LNT education of backcountry visitors. We expect this to be a warm-up for the very busy Labor Day weekend LNT days. We will have examples on how to store food in the backcountry (canisters, counter balance), permissible distance from water for camping, and other LNT principles. Hello SWV Members, Our Highland Lakes work project is upon us soon on August 14-16. This multi-day project will be full days on Friday and Saturday with a possible half day on Sunday morning. We’ll meet at 9 am on Friday at the Highland Lakes campground. I plan to arrive Thursday night. I’ll leave a note on the board guiding you to the campsite.
