There will be Leave No Trace Public Education events at Summit Ranger Station at Pinecrest again this summer.
Our first event is set for Saturday, May 24 2025, Memorial Day weekend,
A project lead is needed for this event.
Of course, we also need other volunteers to participate.
The other LNT Public Education days planned for this season at Summit RS are:
Friday July 4 or Saturday, July 5 2025, Independence Day weekend (TBD)
Saturday, July 26 2025
Saturday, August 16 2025
Saturday, August 30 2025, Labor Day weekend
Start times about 8:30am, end about 2pm

The SWV LNT Public Education events usually take place at Summit Ranger Station on Hwy 108 near Pinecrest Lake.
Our objective is to reduce impact to the wilderness by encouraging responsible ‘Leave No Trace’ practices.
Outline for a SWV LNT event:
Determine what information the visitor may need & provide a Wilderness Permit.
Emphasize ‘pack it in, pack it out’, appropriate camping distances from trails & water sources, proper personal waste disposal, minimal campfire impact & secure food storage.
If convenient, hand out LNT information & discuss outdoor ethics further.
Invite likely prospects to join SWV.
